I’m thrilled to be going back into schools and working with children again. I’m also aware that many teachers don’t get the luxury of spending time on creative writing in the way described here. But this is my approach and I feel very lucky that I can take this path without having to plan for evidenced learning outcomes. It’s such a joy to focus on ideas and creativity while I’m in the classroom, and I do believe this has such a positive effect (see this report from The National Literacy Trust on the impact of author visits). Thanks to all the teachers who have shared their experience with me recently - I salute the work you do!
