Taming Dragons: Behind the Scenes in the Book Industry, hosted by UCL with David Fickling Books

Taming Dragons: a Glimpse Behind the Scenes in the publishing Industry

I was delighted to take part in this panel all about the reality of the roles of author, editor and bookseller. The event was part of a series hosted by UCL, with Dr Samantha Rayner who is Director of the Centre for Publishing there; and expertly chaired by the wonderful Tamsin Rosewell of Kenilworth Books. My editor Rosie Fickling and I talked frankly about the reality of our jobs, and we all discussed the different ways in which we work together, and what we’d like to see done differently too!

Event information:

What kind of discussions go on between booksellers and publishers? Are principles and friendships between authors, publishers and booksellers important or is it, at the end of the day, really just about sales? Join our panel to discover what it's really like to publish books in 2021.

Many thanks to Jessica Thomas, Events Officer at UCL, for technical support and permission to share this event.
